Bukal, a Pilipino word for spring or a natural source of fresh water, is an alternative website. As the word suggests, it aims at becoming a fountainhead of resource materials and references which are particularly Filipino and yet global, Catholic and yet ecumenical, contemporary and yet eschatological.

Human transformation, or simply making the world a better place to live in is seemingly an unreachable star. And yet, given a chance and despite acknowledged limitations, this is what bukal dreams of pursuing. It only takes good men not to do anything for evil to triumph, or so says an old saw.

This being the case, bukal may just be a negligible ripple in an ocean of global efforts. But the thought of being a part of dream is consoling enough—and worth the burning candles even in lonely nights if only to maintain a website such as this.
